    Rare Broadside Ballads Concert

A rare opportunity to hear authentic convict transportation and bushranging broadside ballads, the extraordinary Frances (Frank the Poet) MacNamaraís1839 monologue: 'A Convict's Tour of Hell', and seafaring songs from our maritime heritage. With Warren Fahey, AM, folklorist and author accompanied by Marcus Holden on fiddle & mandolin and Garry Steel on accordion. In association with the exhibition On the Run: Great Convict Escapes.

    A 6 session course at the Centre for Continuing Education. University of Sydney.

    2005 is the centenary of AB Paterson's pioneering book The Old Bush Songs: Composed and Sung in the Bushranging, Digging and Overlanding Days, commissioned by Angus & Robertson in 1885. Join popular broadcaster, performer and author Warren Fahey as he explores this quintessential part of our Australian heritage, looking at the history of this fascinating book and celebrating the story of Australian folk music through old bush songs.
