My Bonnie Lies In Long Bay

Judge Kelly first asked for the money,
Judge Kelly then asked for the key,
Dovey said: 'Come, don't be funny
Bring back that money to me.'

CHORUS
Bring back, bring back
Bring back that money to me, etc.

Judge Foster then said he'd pass sentence,
And spoke of misplaced loyalty,
My bonnie said it was all nonsense,
But he got twelve months at Long Bay.

Chifley went into a frenzy,
Evatt was funny to see,
Caldwell simply went crazy,
And so did the whole ALP.

The coppers searched all round the city,
Helped by the whole CIB,
The papers said it was a pity,
That he'd caused such misery.

My bonnie now lies in a gaol cell,
My bonnie now lies in Long Bay,
My bonnie now lies in the boob house,
He seems such a liar to me.
